As Time Goes By
In the world they are in now, America is basically Spanish and
English-speakers are illegal immigrants, including the Sliders. The immigration
authorities are on them and end up arresting them all except Quinn, who makes a run
for it. Quinn meets a long-lost friend (Daelin Richards) who he used to date up to the 10th grade
when she had moved. Here she's an immigrant and he does not manage to get her to Slide
with them.
They slide onward and find an English-speaking America, which
is a relief for them, until Quinn decides to track down the same friend. He finds her
address, goes to her and finds out that she is married to an abusive individual,
and has a baby. He helps her and phones himself (or somebody else, I'm not sure)
up so she will have a place to go. Sliding with them would be too dangerous, so this
is the best alternative. It seems that this world's Quinn has not started Sliding!
They Slide off this world only to find themselves in a prison.
They note that this has never happened - they are wearing prison clothes and have
been found guilty of murdering a certain police officer named Daelin. The timer is
not working properly. They are released, surprisingly, when they discover that time
on this world moves backwards! When they slide out it's in reverse, and they find
themselves in the next world. Remmy tells Quinn that he can phone the Daelin
of this world from a phone box, but Quinn decides not to this time.
